Meet The providers

Dr. Maiya Clark

Dr. Maiya Clark graduated Magna Cum Laude from Spelman College where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.  She completed her medical education at Georgetown University School of Medicine in her hometown of Washington, DC.  She completed her pediatric residency at The Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper Hospital in Camden, New Jersey.  After residency, Dr. Clark returned to the DC metropolitan area and practiced for several years at a large practice based in Annapolis, MD. 

After leaving that practice, Dr. Clark opened her own practice in Silver Spring, MD.  Dr. Clark wholeheartedly believes in practicing the art of medicine with integrity and compassion.  She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is Board Certified in Pediatrics.  Dr. Clark has a special interest in behavioral pediatrics and childhood obesity.  In her spare time she enjoys traveling, cooking, attending church activities and playing golf.

Sunshine Pediatrics welcomes Katie Chwastyk, CPNP, to its staff.  Katie is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from The Pennsylvania State University.  From there she went on to work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at John Hopkins Children's Center, and obtained a Masters degree in Nursing as a Pediatric Primary Care  Nurse Practitioner at the John Hopkins University School of Nursing.  Katie is a member of the SIgma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and is certified in the practice of pediatric nursing by the Maryland Board of Nursing.

Katie's special interest in Pediatrics include the treatment and care of newborns and female adolescent issues.  In her spare time she enjoys watching football (especially Penn State), spending time with family and friends, and playing golf.
